Silk Plaster Standard is the entry point into the Silk Plaster main collection — and, for many homeowners, the collection they keep coming back to. Built around three calm, easy-to-live-with shades (11, 13, and 27), Standard gives a wall the kind of soft, breathable finish that quietly elevates a room without forcing it to commit to a strong colour statement.
Standard is built on the same fibre-based formulation used across the wider main collection. Cellulose, silk components, a water-soluble adhesive, and finely sorted decorative particles combine into a paste-like coating you apply with a plastic trowel. As the material dries it forms a continuous, seamless surface — no joints, no cut lines, no overlapping seams. The fibres knit smoothly across corners and around sockets, and the finished wall reads as one coherent piece.
Because the Standard shades are deliberately quiet, the collection is often specified for whole rooms rather than feature walls. It works as the calm envelope behind louder furniture, art, or upholstery, and it acts as a natural pairing for stronger Silk Plaster collections — Standard on three walls, Relief or one of the Versailles luxury collections on the fourth. The texture is light enough to read as a soft matt finish at room distance, with just enough character up close to feel more considered than paint.
Standard is also one of the easiest collections to live with day to day. It is fully repairable: any knock, scuff, or moisture mark is fixed by softening the affected area with water, lifting the damaged fibres, and re-applying leftover material from the original pack. The patch blends in invisibly. For family homes, rented properties, and high-traffic spaces such as hallways or stairwells, this single feature quietly saves more repainting hours than any other property of the coating.
From a practical standpoint Standard is well-suited to first-time decorators. A 0.77 kg pack covers approximately 4.8 m² depending on thickness, mixes with warm water, and rests for around 12 hours before being applied. The dried layer settles at around 0.8 mm thick — light enough to feel like a refined matt finish, with just enough body to hide everyday wall imperfections. From there, light fan-shaped strokes with the trowel are all it takes. There is no wallpaper paste, no roll cutting, no pattern to align, and cleanup is just soap and water. Most homeowners finish a feature wall in a single afternoon, with the surface touch-dry within 24 to 48 hours.
The Standard composition is built for indoor living. The coating is VOC A+ rated, contains no harsh solvents, and emits no lingering odour during or after application — which is why it is so widely used in bedrooms, nurseries, and rooms that cannot be left empty for days. The surface is breathable and forgiving on imperfect substrates, masking small bumps and hairline cracks that flat paint would otherwise highlight.
Silk Plaster Standard ships pan-EU from our Riga warehouse with full technical data sheets and a clear application guide. Pair it with the SP Primer Silk Plaster on porous substrates to even out absorbency, and an Expert Trowel for cleaner edges around windows. For an easy, seamless, repairable wall finish at one of the most accessible price points in the range, Silk Plaster Standard is the collection most decorators recommend first.
