Silk Plaster Art Design is the most creatively versatile collection in the Silk Plaster main range. Spanning over twenty shades - from 210 through 295, including warm earth tones, sky blues, deep greens, soft pastels, and confident accents - Art Design gives homeowners the breadth they need to do something genuinely different with a wall. The collection is built specifically for layered finishes, painted patterns, mosaic-style designs, and feature walls that read as bespoke rather than catalogue-perfect.
Art Design uses the same fibre-based formulation as the wider Silk Plaster main collection: cellulose, silk components, a water-soluble adhesive, and finely sorted decorative particles mixed with warm water and applied with a plastic trowel. As the material dries it forms a continuous, seamless surface - no joints, no cut lines, no overlap edges, and the fibres knit smoothly over corners and around sockets so the finished wall reads as one coherent piece even when several shades are combined.
What sets Art Design apart from the rest of the main collection is colour density and combinability. Designers and DIY decorators use the shades together - outlining geometric blocks, painting mural-style children’s rooms, building gentle ombre transitions across an entire wall, or marking individual rooms in a property with their own signature tone. Because every Art Design shade shares the same texture, drying time, and repair characteristics, multi-colour walls feel intentional rather than improvised.
Art Design is fully repairable, which matters especially for creative finishes. If a section is later knocked, scuffed, or marked by moisture, you simply soften the affected area with water, lift the damaged fibres, and re-apply leftover material from the same pack. The patch blends back into the original shape and shade invisibly. For murals in children’s rooms, geometric panels in dining rooms, or feature walls in high-traffic hallways, this single property quietly saves more repainting hours than any other feature of the coating.
From a practical standpoint Art Design is straightforward DIY work, even when used for layered designs. A 0.96 kg pack covers approximately 4.5 m² depending on thickness, mixes with warm water, and rests for around 12 hours before application. The dried coating settles at around 1 mm thick - enough body to support layered designs, mosaic shapes, and painted patterns without losing edge crispness. From there, smooth fan-shaped strokes with the trowel build each section, and shapes can be masked with painter’s tape and worked in stages just as you would with paint. There is no wallpaper paste, no roll cutting, no joints to align, and cleanup is soap and water. The surface is touch-dry within 24 to 48 hours and fully cured within 72.
The Art Design composition is built for indoor living. The coating is VOC A+ rated, contains no harsh solvents, and emits no lingering odour during or after application - which is why it sees so much use in nurseries, playrooms, bedrooms, and living spaces. It is breathable, lightly textured, and forgiving on imperfect substrates, masking small bumps and hairline cracks that flat paint would normally highlight.
Silk Plaster Art Design ships pan-EU from our Riga warehouse with full technical data sheets and a clear application guide. Pair it with the SP Primer Silk Plaster on porous substrates, and an Expert Trowel for tighter edges on geometric or layered patterns. For homeowners who want a wall to feel like a project - and not just a colour choice - Silk Plaster Art Design is the easiest way to make it happen.
